Best time to travel
Australia is a year-round destination with dramatically varied climate zones. In the north, destinations such as Darwin and Cairns are best visited during the dry season from May to October, ideal for outdoor pursuits and the Great Barrier Reef, while the south, including Melbourne and Adelaide, is especially appealing from November to March with its warm summer weather. The east, with highlights such as Sydney and the Gold Coast, is particularly pleasant in spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May). For the Outback and Uluru, the cooler months from May to September are ideal, while the west, including Perth and Ningaloo Reef, offers excellent conditions for discovery from April to September.
