Seychelles
The Seychelles – one of the last true paradises – offer everything one hopes for from tropical islands: glorious palm-fringed beaches of fine white sand, crystal-clear sea, lush vegetation, cool rainforests and, of course, the world-famous, dramatically rising granite peaks. Mahé is the largest of the islands and also home to the international airport. Praslin is the second-largest island in the Seychelles. Here, you can visit the Vallée du Mai National Park, renowned for its towering coco de mer palms. From Praslin, a day trip to La Digue is well worth it, home to the spectacular Anse Source d’Argent beach. Some of the smaller islands, too, are well worth discovering, not least for their exceptional hotels.
Best time to travel
The preferred time to visit the Seychelles is from May to October, though the islands are appealing year-round thanks to their consistently warm tropical climate. There is no true rainy season; brief, intense showers can occur at any time of year, usually in the evening or at night, without cooling the temperatures.
