Maldives
The Maldives are the very definition of paradise: framed by coconut palms, dazzling white beaches and luminous blue lagoons, the islands are scattered across the Indian Ocean like strings of pearls. Everywhere you look, there are places made for dreaming. The tranquillity, softened by the gentle sound of the sea, and the many shades of blue shimmering across the lagoons create a singular atmosphere in which the pace of everyday life instantly falls away. Yet it is not only those in search of undisturbed seclusion who will find what they seek here – anyone drawn to entertainment, sport, gourmet dining and luxury will also be wonderfully at home in the Maldives.
Best time to travel
The Maldives are a year-round destination, with consistently warm temperatures throughout the year, and even in the rainy season most showers are brief, though often intense. The best, and driest, time to visit is from mid-November to the end of April, though the remaining months can also offer a wonderfully sunny holiday, as the rainy season has shifted slightly later in recent years and become less predictable.

how to get there
The Maldives lie in the Indian Ocean, southwest of Sri Lanka and India, and consist of around 1,200 islands, of which about 200 are inhabited. From Germany, the Maldives are best reached by direct flight to Malé, the capital, with a journey time of around 10 to 11 hours. After arriving in Malé, onward travel to the resorts or inhabited islands is often by speedboat, seaplane or domestic flight.
