Oman
The Sultanate of Oman lies in the east of the Arabian Peninsula and has a great deal to offer in terms of exceptional accommodation. From orientally opulent luxury resorts and barefoot chic in the style of Six Senses to luxurious family retreats with extensive leisure programmes, there is something here for every traveller. Yet Oman also offers a great deal to discover: ancient palaces and mosques, time-honoured markets and souks, and captivating natural landscapes are best explored on a thoughtfully curated journey.
Best time to travel
The best time to visit Oman is between October and April. During these months, pleasantly mild temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees Celsius create ideal conditions for sightseeing, desert and mountain tours, as well as time by the sea. December to February is especially appealing, with the most comfortable weather conditions, cooler nights and mild days – perfect for outdoor pursuits and cultural discovery. The summer months from May to September are extremely hot, particularly in the desert regions and cities such as Muscat, where temperatures often rise above 40 degrees Celsius. During this period, coastal areas such as Salalah are somewhat more pleasant, as the monsoon season (Khareef) turns the landscape green and temperatures become more bearable, particularly from June to August, when Salalah becomes a popular escape for travellers from across the region.
