Cyprus
With a remarkable 340 days of sunshine each year, Cyprus is a dream destination for sun seekers. Yet culture lovers are equally well served here, as the island is known, not without reason, as the place where the gods go on holiday. Beyond its ties to Greek mythology, Cyprus also bears countless traces of a storied past. The island’s natural landscapes are wonderfully varied and strikingly beautiful. The Troodos Mountains, beautiful beaches and the clear turquoise waters of the Mediterranean all shape the island’s beauty. The Greek-Turkish conflict has also left its mark on Cyprus. The island is divided into north and south. Today, however, there is no need to choose between the two, and both parts of the island can be travelled with ease.
Best time to travel
The island’s climate is subtropical Mediterranean. This means very hot, dry summers, while winters tend to be milder and wetter. If you are looking to swim, Cyprus is best visited between late April and late October, as temperatures at this time rarely fall below 20 degrees. Those more interested in the island’s culture can visit Cyprus throughout the year.
