My most beautiful experience: A safari tour in South Africa! - by Isabella Arnold...

Last December I was lucky enough to go on a three-stage round trip through South Africa. And even though I already had high expectations, they were definitely exceeded! Our trip through South Africa took us to places that simply overwhelmed us with their diversity and beauty. It was this special mixture of luxury and wild, untamed nature that never ceased to amaze us. Here you are not just an observer, but right in the middle of it - between untouched wilderness and a touch of exclusivity that makes the trip so unique.

Sabi Sands - the adventure begins in the middle of the African wilderness

Sabi Sabi Lodge, which has been family-owned since 1979, sees it as an art to combine luxury and the untouched nature of Africa. The owners want to convey this special experience to their guests and they succeed in doing so perfectly.

Even the drive from the airstrip to the camp was a bit of an adventure. We were greeted by elephants, buffaloes and even giraffes - an unforgettable start to our stay. This closeness to nature is also reflected in the lodge. We stayed at Earth Lodge, whose organic design and understated luxury blended perfectly with the surroundings. The rooms were spacious and so comfortable that you immediately felt at home.

We even saw some animals at the private pool - waterbugs, antelopes and once even an elephant. Thanks to the experienced staff, we felt safe at all times. I particularly liked the fact that many female rangers are also trained here. At Sabi Sabi, you can feel the passion and care with which the camp is run - down to the smallest detail.

A relaxing end to the day at Grootbos Lodge

After Tswalu, our journey continued to Cape Town and from there to the beautiful Grootbos Lodge—the perfect place to unwind after a safari. The architecture is inspired by the surrounding nature and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean! Here, we were able to relax and reflect on the experiences of the past few days.

But there are exciting experiences here as well, such as the surprisingly fascinating flower safari. During the tour, we learned all about the fynbos vegetation, its pollinators, and the plants’ unique adaptations. In addition to the flower safari, Grootbos offers many other activities, such as horseback riding through the fynbos (a highlight for me as a rider), whale watching along the coast, and long walks on the beach.

A special highlight was the food at Grootbos. As a vegetarian, I was treated to an incredibly diverse and delicious menu—all in line with their environmentally conscious and sustainable standards.

A tour of South Africa: a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

While many people think of beaches and relaxation when they think of vacations, there’s hardly anything quite like a safari in South Africa. The closeness to untouched nature, the encounters with wild animals, and the sheer vastness of the landscape—all of this made our trip an unforgettable experience.

If you have the chance, don’t miss out on this experience! I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience something like this.
