Best time to travel
The best time to visit Machu Picchu is between May and September, during the dry season. These months bring clear, sunny weather, ideal for hiking and exploring the ruins. June to August are especially popular, thanks to stable conditions and excellent visibility, although this also means more visitors. The rainy season runs from November to March, with December to Februaryy being the wettest months. At this time, trails — including the Inca Trail — can be slippery and more challenging to walk. Even so, the rainy months bring fewer crowds and a lush green landscape that lends Machu Picchu a particularly atmospheric feel. April and October offer a wonderful balance of favourable weather and fewer visitors, making them equally appealing months to travel.

Die Belmond Sanctuary Lodge ist von Deutschland aus über Lima und Cusco erreichbar. Nach einem etwa 14-16-stündigen Flug folgt eine Zugfahrt von Cusco nach Aguas Calientes, von wo aus ein kurzer Transfer direkt zur Lodge erfolgt.
