Tangalle, a charming coastal town in southern Sri Lanka, is known for its unspoilt beaches, picturesque bays and laid-back atmosphere. Its Mayn attractions include the striking Hummanaya Blowhole, which sends jets of water up to 30 metres into the air, and Mulkirigala Rock Monastery, a historic Buddhist temple complex with fascinating murals and glorious views. At Rekawa Beach, visitors can watch sea turtles nesting at night – a particular highlight for nature lovers.
For families, there is a wealth of activities. Tangalle itself does not offer ideal surfing conditions, but nearby Hiriketiya Bay is an excellent spot for beginners.
