Best time to travel
Punakha, Bhutan’s former capital, is best visited between March and May and from September to November. These months bring mild, pleasant weather, ideal for exploring the magnificent monasteries and taking part in cultural festivals. In spring, the jacaranda trees around the dzong bloom in vivid purple, making an already striking setting even more beautiful.

Travel is via a flight to Paro, Bhutan, followed by a scenic drive of around four hours through the mountains to the lodge.

Punakha, once Bhutan’s capital, is known for its picturesque landscapes, historic monasteries and peaceful rivers. Particularly noteworthy is Punakha Dzong, one of the country’s most magnificent monasteries, set at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Pho Chhu rivers. Other highlights include the Punakha Suspension Bridge, stretching more than 180 metres, and Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the "Temple of Fertility".
