Built on a lava field and surrounded by healing waters, the award-winning Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland is truly one of a kind. Its mineral-rich waters are fed by the very same source as the famous Blue Lagoon. Guests who arrive at this retreat experience an inspiring interplay of nature, design and the luminous power of geothermal water. Relaxation unfolds here on an entirely new level, in surroundings beyond anything you may have imagined. The retreat’s 60 suites are defined by natural local textures and clean, understated lines. There is also an underground spa and a Michelin-starred restaurant whose cuisine draws inspiration from Iceland’s landscapes.

Kids & Teens

Children aged two and above are warmly welcomed at the Retreat! For safety reasons, however, children under the age of nine may not stay in a suite with direct water access. You must also be at least twelve years old to enter the Retreat Spa and the Retreat Lagoon. Lava Restaurant offers specially curated children’s menus.

The Retreat at Blue Lagoon is devoted entirely to relaxation. Enjoy the healing waters, follow the Blue Lagoon ritual through subterranean spaces with silica, algae and minerals, and unwind with exceptional wellness treatments. There is also time to discover Iceland’s extraordinary natural beauty. Drive through the landscape by ATV or explore every kilometre on foot. Visit Iceland’s oldest lighthouse, Reykjanesviti, or head to Krýsuvík, a geothermal area filled with natural wonders.

Best time to travel

Grindavik is a perfect destination in June, July and August. Summer brings the warmest weather and rainfall is comparatively rare, creating ideal conditions for coastal walks where you can experience the raw beauty of the Icelandic landscape. Whale-watching tours are also especially popular, with a strong chance of spotting minke whales, harbour porpoises or dolphins around Grindavik and Reykjavík.

If your focus is on experiencing the Blue Lagoon, the world-famous geothermal spa known for its restorative qualities, as well as the Northern Lights, the winter months are also an excellent time to visit.

    The Retreat at Blue Lagoon can be reached from Germany with a flight of around 3 hours to Reykjavik. After your international flight, a drive of around 50 minutes through Iceland’s striking landscape brings you to the resort.
