Best time to travel
The most beautiful months to visit Crete are May, June, September and October. These months offer warm, but not overly hot, weather, ideal for visiting historic sites, hiking through the Samaria Gorge and enjoying relaxed days on the island’s beautiful beaches. Nature is at its most vibrant during these months, and the climate is perfect for all kinds of outdoor activities.
The high summer months of July and August can also suit a family beach holiday, although temperatures often rise well above 30 degrees Celsius.
