Japan – Ise-Shima National Park

Healing onsen | Seclusion | Japanese elegance

Amanemu

About the hotel

Set within Ise-Shima National Park overlooking the scenic Ago Bay, Amanemu embodies the essence of traditional Japanese hospitality paired with modern luxury. Inspired by Japan's classic minka houses, the resort's 24 suites and four two-storey villas feature a minimalist design that harmoniously combines natural materials with generous living spaces. Each accommodation includes its own private onsen, fed by mineral-rich hot springs renowned for their restorative properties. Private terraces open onto breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, whether dense forest or the shimmering waters of the bay, creating an atmosphere of profound calm.

Kids & Teens

For younger guests, Amanemu offers the Kids Academy, a programme designed to introduce children to Japanese culture and nature in an engaging, playful way. Activities such as traditional crafts, nature explorations and cultural experiences including flower arranging nurture children's curiosity and creativity. For more adventurous teenagers, experiences such as stand-up paddle yoga are also available. After a day of discovery, families can unwind together in the soothing onsen. A babysitting service is also available on request, and indoor play tents can be arranged for children aged 4 to 8, ensuring a wonderfully comfortable stay for families.

Experiences & Activities

Amanemu offers a wealth of experiences designed to restore both body and mind. The resort's 2,000-square-metre spa is centred around the healing onsen baths and offers a range of treatments inspired by traditional Japanese techniques. Guests can explore the historic Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or visit Ise-jingū, one of Japan's most important Shintō shrines. Yoga classes on the terrace overlooking Ago Bay encourage inner balance, while private spa treatments offer deep relaxation. The surrounding landscape also invites hiking and boat excursions, revealing the rich flora and fauna of the national park.

Best time to travel

The ideal time to visit Ise-Shima is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the climate is pleasantly mild, the landscape is dressed either in fresh greenery or vibrant autumn colour, and the clear air brings spectacular views of the sea and island-strewn coast. Summer can be hot and humid, but is ideal for beach and watersports activities, while winter offers cooler temperatures and quieter stays – perfect for enjoying the region’s hot springs (onsen).

    Destination region

    Ise-Shima National Park

Ise-Shima National Park in Japan’s Mie Prefecture is a picturesque coastal region known for its rugged bays, offshore islands and traditional fishing villages. It is especially famous for Ago Bay, whose calm waters are dotted with countless small islands and where the ama divers still harvest shellfish and seafood in the traditional way. Those drawn to culture also make their way to Ise-jingū, one of Japan’s most sacred Shintō shrines. The region combines unspoilt nature, spiritual sites and a long tradition of hospitality, making it an authentic destination away from the major metropolises.
