Tongabezi

About the hotel

Tongabezi Lodge is a secluded and exclusive retreat on the banks of the Zambezi, just twelve kilometres from the mighty, thundering Victoria Falls. The lodge offers a collection of eleven individually designed houses and cottages, each with its own character and all furnished with local, elegant materials. A private concierge service is on hand to look after guests throughout their stay. A family stay at this luxurious lodge promises adventure, perspective, rest and complete tranquillity.

Kids & Teens

Tongabezi Lodge warmly welcomes families with children. Tangala Private House is designed especially with families in mind and comes with its own safari vehicle, boat, chef and private guide. This allows every family, with children of any age, to tailor the holiday entirely to their own needs and enjoy it at their own pace. Beyond the Private House, the camp also offers experienced childminders and, on request, a specially adapted children’s menu. The Zambezi is like one great adventure playground, and the experiences around Victoria Falls delight both young and old.

Experiences & Activities

Enjoy thrilling sunrise and sunset boat trips, explore the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience canoeing and fishing excursions on the Zambezi. Visit the markets of Maramba and Mukuni to discover local culture, or join a guided wildlife walk in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Are you something of a thrill-seeker? A white-water rafting adventure on the Zambezi will set the adrenaline racing! If something more relaxed appeals, the camp pool is the perfect place to unwind. Each day, the chefs prepare fresh seasonal dishes and traditional Zambian cuisine, which can be enjoyed in the shared dining areas or in the privacy of your own accommodation.

Tongabezi

in our eyes

Tongabezi Lodge is set near Livingstone, making an extraordinary range of experiences possible. Two of the region’s most important natural attractions are Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park and Devil's Pool. Culturally, the railway museum and the Maramba Cultural Museum stand out in particular. Book one of the signature Sampan dinners on the Zambezi or immerse yourself in daily local life with a visit to Maramba Market and Mukuni Park.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit Livingstone and Victoria Falls in Zambia is from May to September. During these months, the weather is dry and temperatures are pleasant, offering excellent conditions for sightseeing and outdoor activities. At this time, Victoria Falls is at its most impressive, as water levels reMayn high after the rainy season while the spray is lighter, allowing for clearer views of the falls.

A sunset cruise on the Zambezi is a wonderfully relaxed way to take in the striking scenery while getting remarkably close to hippos and crocodiles. For adventurous families, white-water rafting delivers thrills and adrenaline in equal measure.
