Time&Tide Chongwe

Zambia – Lower Zambezi

nature | luxurious hideaway | pure adventure

Time&Tide Chongwe

About the hotel

In the Lower Zambezi Valley, one of Africa’s most untouched regions, you will find the four-room Time + Tide Chongwe House alongside the neighbouring camp with eight tents. Chongwe sits directly on the banks of the wild-flowing Chongwe River, where giants such as baobabs and elephants feel at home. Whether you choose the camp or the house, you can look forward to panoramic river views, spacious open-air bathrooms, verandas with comfortable loungers and a dedicated team caring for you each day. As there are only a few camps in the Lower Zambezi National Park, a private and peaceful atmosphere comes naturally here. Chongwe River House is the perfect place for families to combine adventure with exclusive relaxation in a spectacular natural setting.

Kids & Teens

Children of all ages are warmly welcomed at Time&Tide Chongwe. A range of exciting activities and excursions is offered for children. Family game drives in 4x4 vehicles, walking safaris and boat safaris will delight guests of all ages and set every heart racing.

Experiences & Activities

Exciting experiences await, from day and night game drives to guided walking safaris, boat and canoe outings, and fishing! The camp also offers distinctive experiences such as sleeping under the stars and cultural excursions to local communities. Despite the remote setting, the kitchen team creates delicious dishes from local ingredients, to be enjoyed under the stars, out on safari or overlooking the Chongwe River.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit Lower Zambezi National Park in Zambia is during the dry season from May to October. During these months, temperatures are pleasant and wildlife sightings along the mighty Zambezi River are spectacular. Elephants, hippos and buffalo can be found in great numbers along the riverbanks.

The dry conditions make this an ideal time for boat safaris and canoe excursions, allowing you to experience the wildlife at close range. Fishing and walking safaris are also especially popular during these months. The landscape is breathtaking at this time, and the chances of impressive sightings of predators and large mammals are high.
