Magashi Camp

Uganda – Akagera National Park

exclusive wilderness | Big 5 safari | luxurious seclusion

Magashi Camp

About the hotel

Experience the ultimate East African safari adventure at Magashi Camp. It lies in the north-eastern part of Akagera National Park, home to lions, giraffes, rhinos, buffalo and elephants, among many others. The camp’s six luxurious tents enjoy unrivalled views over Lake Rwanyakazinga and are elegantly styled with traditional African touches. You can take in the park’s rich wildlife and birdlife, and perhaps even watch an elephant wander past your tent. With space for only a small number of guests, the camp promises an intimate and private atmosphere.

Kids & Teens

Children are welcome at the camp from the age of six. For families with children under twelve, a private safari vehicle must be booked. Children aged 13 and over may join guided walks, although there is no dedicated children’s programme. Even so, every safari, excursion and exploration is an exciting experience, bringing the wonders of the natural world closer to guests of all ages.

Experiences & Activities

Enjoy thrilling experiences such as epic game drives, guided nature walks, boat trips on Lake Rwanyakazinga and birdwatching. During these outings, keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles and the extraordinary shoebill. At mealtimes, Magashi serves traditional dishes. Doesn't your mouth water at the thought of Liboke (chicken cooked and served in banana leaves), Sambaza (fried spiced fish served with ginger rice) and Kachumbari (a traditional tomato and onion salad)?

Best time to travel

The best time to visit Akagera National Park in Rwanda is from June to September. During this dry season, temperatures are pleasant and wildlife viewing is excellent, as animals gather near the reMayning water sources. The vegetation is also less dense, making it easier to spot wildlife in the surrounding landscape.

The clear weather conditions also make boat trips on the park’s lakes especially rewarding, with the chance to observe hippos, crocodiles and a wide variety of waterbirds. The dry season also brings impressive views across the rolling savannah landscape, making Akagera a unique destination for nature lovers.
