Serengeti Bushtops Camp

About the hotel

Anyone travelling to the Serengeti dreams of unforgettable wildlife encounters. Serengeti Bushtops Camp knows this well and has made it its mission to offer guests truly unique and exhilarating safari experiences. Its setting is made for exactly that. Set deep in the Serengeti, the camp brings guests as close to nature and wildlife as possible. The twelve spacious tents are luxuriously, stylishly and warmly appointed. They combine first-class safari experiences with exceptional comfort. Each tent is positioned to face the sunset, best enjoyed from its own expansive private veranda. It is not uncommon for both large and small animals to wander by. A wide range of safaris, walks and excursions also invite you to discover this extraordinary natural world and its remarkable inhabitants more deeply.

Kids & Teens

Serengeti Bushtops Camp is recommended for children aged seven and over. Here, children can experience Africa’s wildlife up close. A highlight for younger guests is “The Bushcraft Challenge”. Tailored especially to younger members of the family, this programme introduces them to local culture, flora and fauna, as well as survival skills such as fire-making, tracking and much more. Those who complete the challenge receive a Bushtops certificate - a lovely reminder of their time here once they return home. Archery, baking Swahili pastries and beadwork are also part of the programme.

Experiences & Activities

Feel the thrill of an exciting game drive in every muscle, take in the landscape with all your senses on guided nature walks, and hold sunrise balloon flights in your heart long after they end. Unwind with wellness treatments and savour sundowners on “Simba’s Rock”. After a day rich in impressions, the kitchen serves gourmet à la carte cuisine and excellent wines, with plenty of choice for vegetarians, vegans and special dietary requirements too - so everyone leaves the table deeply satisfied.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is from June to October. During this dry season, conditions are ideal for the famous wildlife migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebra move through the Serengeti into neighbouring Kenya’s Masai Mara. Days are warm and nights are fresh. Sparse vegetation and clear visibility allow for exceptional wildlife viewing and make it easier to follow the drama of the migration. These months also offer ideal conditions for exploring the Serengeti’s varied landscapes, from vast savannahs to dramatic rock formations and waterholes.

    Destination region

    Serengeti

The Serengeti, a world-famous national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in Tanzania, is known for its endless plains, spectacular wildlife migrations and fiery sunsets. This iconic region offers families an unforgettable safari experience in one of the world’s most awe-inspiring landscapes.

A safari through the park is a wonderful opportunity to encounter the Big Five – lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards and rhino – as well as wildebeest, zebra and a host of other wildlife at close quarters. Particularly impressive is the Great Migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebra move across the Serengeti on their annual journey. For adventurous families, guided walks and hot-air balloon rides offer breathtaking views over the vast plains and wildlife from above. A visit to the local Maasai communities offers the chance to discover the fascinating culture and traditions of this proud people. In the evening, families can relax beneath the African night sky in comfortable safari lodges or tented camps and enjoy the unforgettable sounds of the wild.
