Nimali Mara

Tanzania – Serengeti

remote Serengeti | exclusive safari lodge | pure nature

Nimali Mara

About the hotel

Nimali Mara lies in the northern Serengeti, close to the Kenyan border. Here, gentle hills dotted with acacia trees give way to sweeping grasslands, while the Mara River winds through the landscape. Each year, this seemingly tranquil setting becomes the stage for the Great Migration, as millions of wildebeest and zebra cross the river while crocodiles, lions and other predators lie in wait. Guests are right at the heart of it all, surrounded by the endless plains of the Serengeti. The ten tented suites, each with a private terrace, offer breathtaking views across the landscape. The interiors combine elegant contemporary touches with earthy tones. No one can resist the magic of Nimali Mara. To fall asleep to the sounds of the Serengeti is something you will never forget.

Kids & Teens

At Nimali Mara, children of all ages are welcome. There is a wealth of child-friendly activities designed especially for younger guests. Children can join exciting guided nature walks to discover wildlife and learn more about environmental conservation. There are also educational safaris designed with children in mind, alongside creative games and camp activities that introduce them to the region’s culture and natural world in an engaging way.

Experiences & Activities

Set out on thrilling game drives by day and night, guided walks and spectacular balloon flights over the Serengeti. Enjoy unforgettable bush dinners beneath the stars or unwind with a spa treatment. Wildlife viewing during the Great Migration is especially remarkable, as the camp is positioned at a hotspot for river crossings. Sundowners on the rocks above the camp are also an essential part of the experience.

in our eyes

Nimali Mara is a luxurious safari lodge that presents the very best of the Serengeti with understated elegance. Its tented accommodation brings together comfort and immersion in nature, with sweeping views across the plains. Particularly noteworthy is its exclusive setting, which allows for exceptional wildlife viewing, especially during the Great Migration. Personalised service and thoughtful details make every stay especially seamless. For families seeking a blend of seclusion, nature and luxury, Nimali Mara is an ideal retreat.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit the Serengeti in Tanzania is from June to October. During this dry season, conditions are ideal for the famous wildlife migration, when millions of wildebeest and zebra move through the Serengeti into neighbouring Kenya’s Masai Mara. Days are warm and nights are fresh. Sparse vegetation and clear visibility allow for exceptional wildlife viewing and make it easier to follow the drama of the migration. These months also offer ideal conditions for exploring the Serengeti’s varied landscapes, from vast savannahs to dramatic rock formations and waterholes.
