Lekkerwater Beach Lodge

About the hotel

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge enjoys an exclusive setting in De Hoop Nature Reserve, a jewel of the Western Cape spanning 34,000 hectares of protected land. The lodge sits on an unspoilt six-kilometre stretch of sand. From here, you have an excellent view of the whales’ route and can even enjoy whale watching from the shore. The Beach Lodge is stylishly designed according to the motto "more sea, more life". Its wide, open spaces exude relaxation and comfort. With just seven units, each with its own private terrace, the lodge offers the utmost privacy. What could be better than beginning the day with coffee on your sea-view terrace, listening to the sound of the waves? Welcome to Lekkerwater Beach Lodge.

Kids & Teens

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge is a wonderful place for adventurous families, with exciting experiences for all ages. Given the setting, the property welcomes children from the age of six, provided parents can ensure they do not disturb other guests in the shared areas. Parents must also ensure that children keep away from the partly unsecured cliffs and use the swimming pool only under supervision.

Experiences & Activities

At Lekkerwater Beach Lodge, you can enjoy a wealth of experiences: watch whales and dolphins directly from the shore, join guided walks through De Hoop Nature Reserve or explore the fascinating intertidal zone on a beach walk. The sunsets are especially memorable, best enjoyed during a relaxed picnic on the beach. Round off the day with a delicious dinner beneath the stars.

    De Hoop Nature Reserve

De Hoop Nature Reserve, a beautiful protected area on South Africa’s south coast (around three hours from Cape Town and close to the Garden Route), is known for its biodiversity, breathtaking coastal landscapes and rich plant life. Thanks to its rich ecological diversity, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. This scenic region offers families a perfect blend of nature, adventure and relaxation.

Walking trails through the reserve reveal sweeping coastal views and the chance to observe a variety of animals such as eland, bontebok and Cape mountain zebra. Particularly captivating are the seasonal cliff walks, where whales and dolphins can often be spotted out at sea. In the picturesque lagoons, families can watch birds and learn more about the native flora and fauna. For the more adventurous, guided mountain bike tours offer the chance to explore the reserve’s breathtaking landscapes.
