About the hotel
Singita Kwitonda Lodge sits on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, offering unrivalled views of the Virunga volcanoes. Kwitonda was the name of a legendary silverback, after whom the lodge is named. It comprises eight luxurious suites and a four-bedroom villa. Elegance and ecological sustainability are woven together with effortless ease. Local materials such as volcanic stone and terracotta were used throughout the build. Elements such as woven ceilings and hand-fired terracotta brickwork were created by local artisans. Each suite features its own heated plunge pool, wellness treatment area, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, and expansive windows framing uninterrupted views of the landscape and volcanoes.

Singita Kwitonda welcomes children of all ages and offers a specially created, varied programme designed to delight younger guests. It includes children’s cooking classes, board games, stargazing, quizzes, arts and crafts, painting, films, birdwatching, cycling, a garden tour as well as golden monkey treks (for children aged twelve and over). Please note that the minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15.

Best time to travel
The best time to visit Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is from June to September, as well as from December to Januaryy. These months bring dry conditions that make hiking through the dense rainforest easier. They are also the best months for guided gorilla trekking, when you can encounter the rare mountain gorillas in their natural environment.
Other wildlife sightings, such as golden monkeys, are also especially rewarding during these months. Cooler temperatures and lower rainfall make trekking across the terrain more comfortable and ensure good visibility, which is particularly valuable for photographers.
