Shipwreck Lodge

Namibia – Skeleton Coast

Adventurous luxury | unique design | sustainable wilderness

Shipwreck Lodge

About the hotel

Shipwrecked in the desert. Or perhaps only an illusion? With its striking shipwreck-inspired architecture, Shipwreck Lodge evokes a singular sense of adventure and seclusion. But rest assured: in reality, an opulent stay with first-class service awaits. The lodge is the only accommodation on the world-famous Skeleton Coast. This coastline is known for its stranded ships, which inspired the design of the cabins — it doesn’t get more authentic than this! Inside, you will find a warm blend of timber, handcrafted furniture and an abundance of cushions and blankets. The main lodge radiates both elegance and comfort, and with its coal stove it invites wonderfully relaxed evenings over a drink or a game of chess. The dining area is an inviting space where conversations with the team come naturally. Alongside daily meals, they spoil guests with homemade cake and hot drinks. By day, Shipwreck Lodge is a wonderful base from which to discover the extraordinary landscapes of the Skeleton Coast.

Kids & Teens

Children of all ages are warmly welcome. Although there is no dedicated programme for younger guests, they are just as captivated as adults by the surroundings of Shipwreck Lodge, which feel like one vast adventure playground. A host of outings awaits them, along with many fascinating animals to discover. Parents are responsible for supervision throughout the stay.

Experiences & Activities

Depending on the wind and weather along the coast, a variety of activities can be arranged. These include guided 4x4 tours along the Hoarusib River, quad biking, sandboarding, beach walks and visits to the seal colonies at Möwe Bay. You can also visit the remarkable Clay Castles and enjoy stargazing beneath the clear desert sky. On other excursions, wildlife sightings may include lions, elephants, hyenas, jackals, oryx, flamingos and plenty of smaller animals.
