Little Kulala
in our eyes
Little Kulala sits at the gateway to the surreal landscapes of Sossusvlei, one of the world’s most spectacular desert regions, famed for its majestic red sand dunes. The lodge offers direct access to this magical landscape, pairing contemporary luxury with the raw beauty of the Namib Desert. Every stay here becomes an experience that reveals the desert’s magic in its purest form.
Best time to travel
The best time to visit Sossusvlei in Namibia is between April and September. During these months, temperatures are pleasantly cool and the dry conditions bring clear, sunny days, ideal for exploring the spectacular dune landscapes. In principle, Namibia – including the Sossusvlei region – is a year-round destination thanks to its climate, although the Namibian summer months can bring extreme heat in the desert.
The cool morning temperatures offer ideal conditions for photographers hoping to capture the unique play of light as the rising sun touches the dunes. These months are also perfect for exploring the surrounding Namib Desert without the intense heat that can occur in the summer months.

Anreise
The entrance gate to Kulala Wilderness Reserve is around 17 kilometres from Sesriem, off the D826. Guests are collected at the gate and driven to the camp. It is also possible to fly directly to the airstrip near Kulala Desert Lodge and be collected there.
Sossusvlei
Set in the heart of the Namib Desert, Sossusvlei is famed for its majestic red sand dunes, among the highest in the world. The so-called “Big Daddy”, rising to around 325 metres, is one of them. Part of Namib-Naukluft National Park, this striking landscape reveals a surreal desert beauty that is especially spectacular at sunrise and sunset.
For families, Sossusvlei offers countless unforgettable experiences. Climbing the dunes – especially the famous Dune 45 – rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views and a thrilling sense of adventure. A visit to Deadvlei, a mystical clay pan dotted with bizarre, dead camel thorn trees, is captivating in its singular atmosphere and is perhaps the most Instagrammable photo spot of all. Families can also set out to discover desert wildlife, from oryx and springbok to the Little Five, all exquisitely adapted to this harsh climate.
