Kenya – Samburu

breathtaking views | culture | pure adventure

Saruni Samburu

About the hotel

Saruni Samburu lies within the breathtaking Kalama Conservancy in northern Kenya and offers six exclusive villas with contemporary interiors and incomparable views across the savannah all the way to Mount Kenya. Each villa is beautifully styled with a blend of modern comfort and traditional African aesthetics, featuring two en suite bedrooms, dressing rooms, a spacious shared living and dining area, and several verandas from which to admire the star-filled skies, sunrise and sunset. The lodge is especially known for its sustainable construction and harmonious integration into the natural surroundings. Two infinity pools and a spa area are also perfectly woven into the landscape, offering deep relaxation.

Kids & Teens

Children and family safaris are given special attention at Saruni Samburu. Particularly noteworthy is the "Warriors Academy", a specially created programme where young guests learn from Samburu warriors, discovering traditional survival skills and a deeper understanding of nature. Families can also share guided bush walks, cultural visits and wildlife encounters together. Babysitting services and personalised activities are also available to suit the needs of every family.

Experiences & Activities

The list of possible experiences at Saruni Samburu is a long one, ranging from classic game drives and cultural encounters in local villages and communities to scorpion and torch-lit safaris by night. Your whole family will be amazed by just how varied and extraordinary Samburu is. You can also take an excursion to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, throw seed balls, hide away in a waterhole hide and capture wonderful photographs. After a day rich in new impressions, treat yourself to a revitalising spa treatment and dine in the restaurant, where Italian-inspired dishes are served.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit Samburu National Reserve in Kenya is from July to October. During this dry season, animals gather around the reMayning water sources, significantly increasing the chances of extraordinary wildlife sightings. This is also the ideal time to spot the “Samburu Special Five” – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and beisa oryx.

Temperatures are pleasantly warm, and the clear air offers excellent visibility, making these months perfect for photographers and nature lovers alike.

    Samburu

Set in the shadow of majestic Mount Kenya, the Samburu region in Kenya is defined by its rugged beauty and rich cultural heritage. Endless savannahs, shaped by the life-giving Ewaso Ng’iro River and acacia woodlands, define the landscape. Samburu National Reserve is known for its distinctive Samburu Five – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Somali ostrich and beisa oryx – and is also home to elephants, lions and leopards.

Samburu promises magical experiences for families. On exhilarating game drives, you will encounter its remarkable wildlife up close. A visit to a traditional Samburu village allows children to experience this rich culture first-hand. A sunrise balloon flight over the savannah creates unforgettable memories for young and old alike.
