Sala’s Camp
Kenya – Masai Mara
Sala’s Camp
About the hotel
Sala’s Camp lies in the south of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border, offering a small and peaceful retreat. Just 18 guests can stay in the camp’s seven beautifully appointed luxury tents, set directly on the Sand River. Each tent features an en-suite bathroom, hot-water shower, separate bathtub, running water and flush toilet — a level of comfort in the wilderness that feels especially indulgent! Set far from the rush of everyday life, the camp offers a singular safari experience right outside your tent! The nearby Keekorok River is one of the most important crossing points of the wildebeest migration, the great African wildlife movement that begins in Tanzania and passes through the Maasai Mara. The chances of extraordinary wildlife sightings here are remarkably high! The camp is therefore an exceptional base for thrilling game drives through the Maasai Mara. As day fades, linger over a cool drink by the campfire and listen to the sounds of the African wilderness.
Kids & Teens
Children of all ages are warmly welcomed at Sala’s Camp. For younger guests, the camp offers activities that introduce them to the secrets of the African bush. They might, for example, learn about the “Little Five” and how to make bush toothpaste. Game drives, where they can see wildlife in its natural habitat, are among the unforgettable moments shared by the whole family. During the dry months, a volleyball net can even be set up in a dried riverbed. A “baby listening” service is also available.
Experiences & Activities
The camp’s activities centre on immersive time in nature and wildlife viewing. Head out on game drives, enjoy guided bush walks and visit Maasai villages for cultural encounters. A sunrise hot-air-balloon flight over the reserve will enchant you! Between adventures, the shaded outdoor space on your veranda invites you to read, sketch or simply unwind. As you sit beneath the night sky, you will marvel at the billions of stars glittering overhead. Refresh yourself at the bar with tea, coffee, water and fruit juices, along with homemade sweet treats. At barbecue evenings, the chefs spoil you with delicious food.
