Angama Mara
Kenya – Masai Mara
Angama Mara
About the hotel
Angama Mara offers a safari experience unlike any other. Angama is Swahili and means something akin to “suspended in mid-air”. The name is no coincidence, as the lodge sits on the Oloololo Escarpment, 300 metres above the sweeping plains of the Maasai Mara. This privileged setting promises breathtaking views across the landscape at every hour of the day. There is no such thing as a bad seat here. The elegant tented suites are designed accordingly: thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass fronts, the view is extraordinary from every corner – from the bathtub, the bed, even the bathroom – and the terrace will, of course, become your favourite place of all. Angama Mara consists of two intimate camps, each with just fifteen tented suites, a private airstrip, bespoke safari days and Kenya’s famously warm hospitality. With wellness treatments and fresh expressions of Kenyan cuisine, this is a camp in which you can truly settle into the moment.
Kids & Teens
Children of all ages are welcome at Angama Mara Lodge. The lodge offers tailored activities designed around children’s individual needs and interests, whatever their age. These include “Walk with a Warrior”, where they explore nature alongside a Maasai warrior, make beads in the craft studio, become a baker for a day, and learn how to grow and harvest vegetables in the lodge’s kitchen garden. They can also take part in game drives and family activities. Complimentary childcare by experienced women is available daily between 18:00 and 22:00.
Experiences & Activities
Spend your time at Angama Mara with daily safaris, a striking hot air balloon flight, guided nature walks and cultural visits to Maasai villages. You can also edit or print your safari photographs in the photography studio, or harvest your own ingredients in the shamba, the lodge’s kitchen garden, and have them prepared for you. Enjoy an evening in the boma with a Maasai warrior performance of traditional singing, dancing and jumping – or join in yourself. At such gatherings, samosas and chicken skewers are served straight from the fire, while popcorn is prepared over the embers. The menu of classic safari dishes changes daily and is always served à la carte.
