Best time to travel
The best time to visit the Okavango Delta in Botswana is from April to October. These months fall within the dry season. From May onwards, the delta reaches its greatest extent as water slowly flows in from the Angolan Highlands, transforming the region into a lush oasis. Peak water levels are reached in the months of July and August . This draws a wealth of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo and an impressive abundance of birdlife.
Guided walking safaris and game drives are also ideal during these months, as the vegetation is thinner and animals are easier to spot. The cool, dry conditions and the high concentration of wildlife make this season perfect for nature and wildlife lovers. Clear air also offers superb conditions for photography and birdwatching.

Travel to Xigera Safari Lodge begins with a flight to Maun, followed by a charter flight of around 25 minutes to Xigera Airstrip. From there, a short transfer by off-road vehicle takes you directly to the lodge.
