Mombo Camp
About the hotel
Mombo Camp is set on Chief’s Island in the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Botswana’s most wildlife-rich regions. Extraordinary wildlife sightings, including lions, leopards and wild dogs, are far from rare. The suites are built on raised wooden decks, draped in canvas and opening onto breathtaking views across the Okavango Delta. The design is luxurious and open, crafted from natural materials that blend harmoniously into the landscape. Each accommodation features a private veranda, generous bathrooms and a contemporary design that celebrates sustainable luxury. With its focus on ecology and comfort, Mombo ranks among Africa’s most exclusive safari destinations. Meals are also prepared using regional ingredients, including the celebrated baobab.
Kids & Teens
Although there are no dedicated programmes for children or teenagers, younger guests at Mombo Camp still enjoy an exclusive safari experience centred on wildlife encounters. On guided outings, children learn a great deal about the delta’s native animals and plants, while also taking part in exciting family adventures.
Experiences & Activities
Enjoy a rich variety of experiences, including day and night game drives, mokoro excursions, birdwatching and guided nature walks. You can also make use of the state-of-the-art Olympus cameras provided for photography. A particular highlight is a helicopter flight, offering breathtaking views across the delta. Mombo Camp
in our eyes
Mombo Camp is an absolute jewel in the heart of the Okavango Delta, the very embodiment of safari luxury. Waking in one of the nine luxurious tented suites and looking straight out over the wide plains and their extraordinary abundance of wildlife is incomparable. There is every chance that, on waking, you will see a herd of zebras grazing or an elephant strolling past your veranda. The combination of first-class service, state-of-the-art comfort and untouched nature makes every stay feel utterly unique. Particularly impressive is the chance to observe a remarkable variety of rare animals, including leopards, from wonderfully close quarters.
Best time to travel
The best time to visit the Okavango Delta in Botswana is from April to October. These months fall within the dry season. From May onwards, the delta reaches its greatest extent as water slowly flows in from the Angolan Highlands, transforming the region into a lush oasis. Peak water levels are reached in the months of July and August . This draws a wealth of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo and an impressive abundance of birdlife.
Guided walking safaris and game drives are also ideal during these months, as the vegetation is thinner and animals are easier to spot. The cool, dry conditions and the high concentration of wildlife make this season perfect for nature and wildlife lovers. Clear air also offers superb conditions for photography and birdwatching.
