Best time to travel
The best time to visit Tarangire National Park in Tanzania is from June to October. During the dry months, the vegetation is low and sparse and water sources are limited, making animals easier to find. Days are pleasantly warm and nights are cool. For early morning safaris, layered clothing is recommended. This is also an ideal time to observe elephant herds, which are especially numerous in Tarangire National Park, as well as to enjoy guided walks and game drives through the park’s varied landscapes.
Forest Chem Chem is easily reached via Kilimanjaro International Airport, followed by an approximately 4-hour drive into Tanzania’s remote wilderness. Alternatively, the lodge can be reached by charter flight to nearby Momella Airstrip, followed by a short transfer to the camp. Your safari adventure begins with a remarkable journey through breathtaking landscapes.
Tarangire
Tarangire, an impressive national park in Tanzania, is known for its vast baobab trees – some of them 300 years old – large elephant herds and richly varied wildlife. Its vegetation is wonderfully diverse, ranging from elephant grass and broad stretches of mixed acacia woodland to riverine forests.
Encounter elephant herds, lions and zebra at close quarters with your family, and take in the park’s spectacular landscapes. Guided walks are also available in the park, where both adults and children can learn a great deal about the animal and plant life. A special highlight is camping beneath the African night sky, where families can share stories by the campfire and listen to the sounds of the wild. The Tarangire River draws countless animals and offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. The combination of wildlife encounters and unforgettable nature experiences makes Tarangire an ideal destination for families.
