Indonesia – Anambas Islands

Secluded | Nature-led | Dreamlike Views

Elang

About the Private Island

What was first envisioned as a holiday island for the family of the charismatic founder Tim Hartnoll has evolved into a dreamlike retreat with six lodges, two restaurants, a spa, a private beach and an infinity pool. In total, the island can host 20 guests. Each lodge comes with private butler service and pays tribute to Indonesian craftsmanship. Private jetties leading guests to the sea heighten the sense of privacy and exclusivity. The Longhouse is the island’s master lodge. Spanning 254 m², it features a principal bedroom with a king-size four-poster bed, an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and rain shower, an additional bedroom, an open-plan living and dining area, and a generous covered balcony with lounge seating overlooking the sea. The island also offers five one-bedroom lodges, each measuring 136 m². Three of the five lodges feature a beautiful outdoor bathtub on the balcony with sweeping ocean views.

Kids & Teens

Children of all ages are welcome. Elang offers a range of activities for children and teenagers, including snorkelling, beach games, nature exploration and creative workshops. A dedicated team ensures younger guests can safely and joyfully experience the wonders of nature.

Experiences & Activities

As Elang is just a three-minute boat ride from the main island of Bawah, guests can make use of the main resort’s facilities at any time. Within this vast reserve, you are certain to find a stretch of beach or coral reef entirely to yourself. How about a private picnic lunch? The striking natural surroundings invite sunrise yoga in the pavilion, languid hours on the beach and an aperitif in the magic of the evening light, followed by a delicious dinner beneath the stars. The island’s gentle pace creates space for unforgettable experiences and pure relaxation.

Best time to travel

The best time to visit the Anambas Islands in Indonesia is from April to October. These months fall within the dry season, making them especially favourable for visiting the islands. Temperatures are warm and rainfall is low, making the exploration of untouched beaches and diving in crystal-clear waters particularly rewarding. Excellent underwater visibility and calm weather make these months ideal for boat trips and island-hopping. Exploring the idyllic beaches and relaxing in the luxurious resorts is also especially enjoyable at this time. The lower number of visitors during the dry season allows for a peaceful and exclusive holiday experience in this remote paradise.
