Best time to travel
The best time to visit Praslin is between May and October, when the weather is dry and temperatures are pleasantly warm. During this period, the southeast trade winds bring a wonderfully comfortable climate. Humidity is lower and the seas are calmer, creating perfect conditions for swimming, snorkelling and diving.
The second-best time to visit is from March to May and November, during the transition between the trade winds. The weather is warm and the underwater world is exceptionally clear, ideal for diving and snorkelling excursions.
Even outside these periods, the Seychelles is well worth visiting, as rainfall is often brief and usually falls at night.
Travel is via an international flight to Mahé. The quickest way to get from Mahé to Praslin is by domestic flight. Air Seychelles operates several daily flights from Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) to Praslin Island Airport (PRI). The flight takes around 15 minutes.
Praslin
Praslin, the second-largest island in the Seychelles, is famed for its beautiful beaches, lush forests and unique wildlife. The island is especially known for Vallée de May, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the rare coco de mer palms grow. Praslin offers an ideal blend of relaxation and enriching experiences, making it a perfect destination for families.
For families, Praslin offers a wealth of exciting activities. A visit to the Vallée de May Nature Reserve offers the chance to discover the island’s remarkable flora and fauna, including the Seychelles black parrot, a rare endemic bird species. The beaches of Anse Lazio and Anse Georgette, counted among the most beautiful in the world, invite blissful days by the sea. Snorkelling, diving and boat trips to nearby islands such as Curieuse Island, home to the famous Aldabra giant tortoises, are also unforgettable experiences for all ages.
