Best time to travel
The best time for this journey through Sri Lanka is from November to April, when the weather in the Cultural Triangle and along the west and south coasts is dry and pleasant. During this time, you can make the most of beach days at Cape Weligama, visits to Anuradhapura and Sigiriya Rock, and safaris in Yala National Park. A second excellent time to travel is from July to September, when the island’s north-east remains dry. During this period, historic sites, tea plantations and the coastline can still be explored beautifully, although occasional rain is possible on the south-west coast.
