About the cruise ship
Le Commandant Charcot is a groundbreaking expedition ship from the renowned French cruise line PONANT, created especially for luxurious polar travel. As the world’s first luxury icebreaker with hybrid propulsion, she combines liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electric batteries to enable environmentally conscious expeditions to the most remote regions of the Arctic and Antarctic. At 150 metres in length, the ship accommodates up to 270 passengers in 135 luxurious cabins and suites, each with a private balcony. Facilities include two first-class restaurants, a spa, a fitness centre and a heated outdoor pool.
