Sasaab Camp
Kenya – Samburu
Sasaab Camp
About the hotel
Sasaab Camp blends Swahili and Moroccan design influences in the heart of the Kenyan wilderness. Set above the Ewaso Nyiro River on the edge of the Samburu National Reserve, the camp commands extraordinary views across the Laikipia Plateau and towards Mount Kenya. The eleven luxurious safari tents each span more than 100 square metres. Thatched and draped in canvas, each one also features a private pool and veranda. The open design welcomes a gentle breeze and allows for wonderfully close wildlife encounters, including herds of elephants along the river. Sustainability and support for the local community are at the heart of the camp, which balances tranquillity, comfort and immersive nature experiences with ease.
Kids & Teens
While Sasaab Camp does not offer a dedicated programme for children and teens, there is a wide range of engaging activities to enjoy. Camel safaris are especially popular, offering young adventurers a fresh perspective on the landscape. Children can also learn about the region’s flora and fauna on guided nature walks. After an inspiring day out, they can cool off with a splash in the pool.
Experiences & Activities
Set out together as a family on guided nature walks, rediscover your sense of adventure on a quad bike excursion, or encounter the region’s remarkable wildlife on safari. Sasaab offers an array of activities that are as exciting as they are varied. Highlights include a camel safari and a scenic helicopter flight. For moments of peace and restoration, the spa is the perfect retreat. From here, you can gaze out over the wilderness as body, mind and soul gently unwind.

Sasaab Camp
in our eyes
At Sasaab Camp, we truly felt we had arrived in the heart of Africa. The blend of safari adventure, from quad biking and elephant encounters to unwinding in the spa, is hard to match. Do not miss the magic of sunset at “Sundowner Rock”. A wonderful place for families to experience both luxury and adventure.
Best time to travel
The best time to visit Samburu National Reserve in Kenya is from July to October. During this dry season, animals gather around the reMayning water sources, significantly increasing the chances of extraordinary wildlife sightings. This is also the ideal time to spot the “Samburu Special Five” – Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and beisa oryx.
Temperatures are pleasantly warm, and the clear air offers excellent visibility, making these months perfect for photographers and nature lovers alike.
